Carter Towler was formally created in 2008 with the merger of two very well known firms in Yorkshire - Towlers and Carter & Co. They very quickly became one of the largest independent practices outside London, offering multi-disciplinary services to rival large national firms.
Their impressive client roster includes many of the big national developers such as Mountpark, Firethorn, Marshall CDP and HBD; funds such as CBRE IM, Paloma Capital; and local HNWIs (of which Yorkshire seems to have a high proportion).
They are particularly proud of July’s 65,000 sq ft letting at OP65, the final speculative phase of CBRE IM’s Overland Park industrial scheme, which set a Yorkshire record headline rent of £8.75 psf. Unsurprising, then, that they have been named EG’s Agency Deals Winner and Overall Regional Winner for the past 10 years!
The Old Workflows
Carter Towler’s previous legacy system had been in place for four years, but frustrated them from the get go: “It was very clunky, it felt like something that you would find in the NHS; lots of fields and tabs that you did not need.We found that most of the time we were delegating the bulk of tasks to admins because it just wasn’t an efficient use of agents’ time”.
Improved Efficiency with Kato

We asked Josh which Kato feature was his favourite, and he immediately cited the integration with the Industrial Agents Society: “60% of our deals by number are to represented clients and it is really important that we engage with tenant reps. Being able to respond to requirements and log any intel at the click of a button is such a game changer. As I am out of the office at least 50% of the time I can do everything via the app and know that I am not missing any opportunities for my clients.”
He also loves the ease of accessing all the enquiries his team are tracking, creating reports and pinned views, so he can confidently discuss demand when pitching for new business with clients.
Overall, Josh considers that he personally saves 7 hours per week via Kato and, being a Yorkshireman, it ensures that he can get to the pub early on a Friday afternoon (by his own admission!)
